Blooming Hearts Fortune Merlion Lights Up Plaza Singapura for Singapore Night Festival
The Blooming Hearts Fortune Merlion by UNIPLAY is on display at Plaza Singapura, Level 1 Outdoor Plaza, from now till 5 September as part of the Singapore Night Festival. The larger-than-life installation reimagines the iconic Merlion through animation, movement, and an interactive experience, glowing after dark for festival-goers exploring the Bras Basah.Bugis precinct.
A Colourful Merlion Reimagined
The installation features a large illuminated Merlion statue holding a heart-shaped "SG" balloon, positioned near the Plaza Singapura entrance area. The colourful sculpture incorporates glowing elements and a yellow shield with logo detailing, creating a festive presence at the mall's ground-level outdoor plaza. Visitors can catch the display lit up after dark as part of the Singapore Night Festival circuit.
From Trash to Treasure: The Recycling Story
The installation carries a deeper message about transformation, where discarded materials find new purpose through creativity. A 3D-printed display titled "TRASHED BOTTLES" educates visitors on plastic recycling myths and facts. Myth #01 states that all collected plastics get recycled, while Fact #01 clarifies that collected does not mean recycled, as bottles must go to recycling centres before being processed into new products.
Merlion Treasure Story Collectibles
The exhibit includes a Merlion Treasure Story component featuring limited edition collectible items housed in clear acrylic cases with numbered labels such as "MYTH #01" and "FACT #03." Shelves stock boxed merchandise with cartoon Merlion characters and floral motifs, each priced at S$29.90. A promotional poster advertises a Merlion Treasure Hunt event tied to the exhibit, with heart-shaped fun fact pop-ups providing additional educational content.
Fortune Merlon Art Toy by Minty Lido
The Fortune Merlon is a limited edition art toy by designer label Minty Lido, made from 20% recycled plastic bottles. Each piece takes about 40 hours to print and process using 3D printing technology. The display presents Myth #04 versus Fact #04 about recycling longevity, reinforcing the installation's sustainability theme. A QR code on the display panel invites visitors to scan for more information about the Fortune Merlon project.
