Job Summary:
The Assistant Finance Manager supports the Finance Manager in overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance. This role plays a critical part in maintaining financial discipline, supporting business decision-making, and improving financial processes across multiple outlets, central kitchen, and corporate office.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting & Month-End Closing
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Manage month-end closing activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of P&L by outlet and business segment.
2. Budgeting & Forecasting
- Support the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
- Track actuals vs. budget, investigate variances, and provide analysis to management.
- Collaborate with departments to gather budget inputs and provide financial guidance.
3. Cost Management
- Monitor and analyse key cost components including COGS, labour costs, and overheads.
- Support cost control initiatives and conduct regular reviews with operations and procurement teams.
- Assist in inventory analysis and variance investigation, particularly for food and beverage cost.
4. Audit & Compliance
- Liaise with external auditors during annual audits and ensure proper documentation and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure proper implementation of internal controls and compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Review tax submissions and support GST and corporate tax filings.
5. Systems & Process Improvements
- Assist in the enhancement of financial systems and processes for efficiency and accuracy.
- Support finance digitalisation initiatives and ERP system implementation/enhancement.
- Prepare financial reports and dashboards for management decision-making.
Requirements:
- Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related discipline.
- At least 4–6 years of relevant experience in finance or accounting, preferably in the F&B or retail industry.
- CPA/ACCA or pursuing certification is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial software (e.g., Navision, SAP, Xero, or similar).
- Good communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
